Title (provisional) : Systemic innovation, emerging value chains and circular economy: insights from the agri-food and related sectors

Abstract

In the quest for sustainability, systemic innovation stands out as a crucial strategy, especially in the implementation of circularity. This form of innovation often arises at the intersection of previously distinct sectors, driven by technological advancements that create new value chains. Successful systemic innovation requires cross-industry collaborations and adaptations both within organizations and along the entire value chain. This keynote will explore the essential role of systemic innovation in promoting sustainability and the circular economy. It will emphasize the importance of acquiring new knowledge, developing dynamic capabilities, and reconfiguring business models. We will explore the practical implications of systemic innovation, providing insights into the emergence of new value chains and how companies can adapt and redesign their business models to achieve sustainability objectives. Additionally, we will discuss the significance of cross-industry networks, partnerships, and ecosystems, illustrated through case studies from the agri-food and related sectors.
